Mentalympians Social Network (MentaNet)

At MentaNet we believe strongly in protecting the privacy of our members' personal information. This document sets out how MentaNet handles data which identifies you. You should read it in conjunction with the MentaNet Terms & Conditions, of which this Privacy Policy forms part.

  1. Contact details and communications.
    No officer, employee or affiliate of MentaNet , will ever contact you other than in accordance with this policy. We are conscious that unsolicited contact is annoying and undesirable: we therefore will not contact you except as part of the service. You will not be contacted by advertisers through our mailing list, nor will we provide our mailing list to any third party except when and as required by law.

    You agree that we may send a monthly e-bulletin to the primary email specified in your account. To unsubscribe from such e-bulletins, simply send an email to admin@mentalympians.org with ‘unsubscribe ’ in the subject line, or use the opt-out URL to be provided in every newsletter.

    We do not recommend public disclosure of any kind of contact details, and careful consideration before providing information which could be used to identify or locate you. Accordingly, our members have the option of using a pseudonym as a profile name instead of their name to participate in the social network. However, MentaNet will not specifically monitor the information you provide to others, and you do so at your own risk without any reliance on MentaNet or any other person to notify you of potential dangers in releasing particular information.
  2. The information we gather and track.
    When you register for the MentaNet you are required to provide your valid email address, create a profile name, enter your date of birth, and select a password for your account. Only your profile name will be visible to other members. It is required that you enter your valid email address and correct birth date.

    While it is possible to add more information about yourself on MentaNet for other members too see (your name, website, facebook, blog, photo and additional information about yourself), all such information is entirely optional and can be changed at any time. Please update your details with relevant changes as soon as possible to ensure we have the correct information for you on your account.

    We may use cookies as a part of the service. Any information gathered in this process will be protected in the same way as any other information gathered by us during the provision of the service.

    We may use cookies and other such devices to compile anonymous, aggregated statistics that allow us to understand how users use MentaNet and to help us improve the structure of our website (we cannot identify you personally in this way).
  3. Sharing and use of information
    We will not share or use your information other than in accordance with this Policy. Your information will only be shared without your consent if we are legally required to share that information. In such a case, we will make all reasonable efforts to notify you of the nature and extent of the dissemination of that information. A corollary requirement of this clause is that you agree to indemnify us from any loss or harm caused by such dissemination.
  4. Security
    We have security measures in place to protect our customer database and access to this database is restricted internally. The safety, from your end, of your details, password, and privacy of your internet browser are your own responsibility.

    In addition, in order to increase privacy for our members, the content on MentaNet is only available to its registered members.
  5. Removing yourself from MentaNet
    You may have your registration details removed from the site at any time. To remove yourself please click here.

    Your information will be archived and stored for the necessary time period for legal reasons. It is important to understand and recognize that member content may be copied or stored by other members even after it has been removed from the site. It may also remain cached and archived by those that have copied it. In all cases you agree to indemnify us against any loss or harm caused by such retention.
  6. Disclosure for legal reasons
    We reserve the right to communicate such of a member's personal information as we hold to third parties which seek the disclosure of it, and which make a request for its disclosure with which we are obliged by law to comply.
  7. Data retention period
    We will retain your personal data only as long as is necessary for the purposes to which you consent under the MentaNet and this Privacy Policy, or as is required by applicable law, and then we will delete it.
  8. Contacting MentaNet
    If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, the practices of the MentaNet or your dealings with MentaNet, you can contact us at admin@mentalympians.org. You can also use this address if you wish to request from MentaNet a copy of the personal data we hold about you or a description of that data. Please note that charges may apply for providing this information. There may be cases where we cannot comply for logistical or legal reasons.
  9. Links to third party sites
    The MentaNet contains links to other sites. MentaNet is not responsible for the privacy practices, or the content, of those web sites.
  10. Changes to this Privacy Policy
    MentaNet reserves the right to make changes to this Privacy Policy from time to time by posting the new policy on our website.
